At the Old Town Stomp, held April 28, 2013 at Grand Café/Sir Pizza, MICA presented the ii:V:I Community Turnaround Awards, saluting the volunteers and sponsors who make free community events like Lansing JazzFest possible.

This year’s award winners are:

  • Game Changer Award – Lee Hladki, Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau
  • Outstanding Supporter Award – The Tripp Family, Tripp’s AutoShop
  • Outdoor Media Award – Adams Outdoor
  • Visual Artist Award – Kirby Milton
  • Good Neighbor Award – Gallery 1212
  • Broadcast Media Sponsor Award – Gary Reid, WDBM/WKAR – BackStage Pass
  • Broadcast Media Award – Evan Pinsonnault, WLNS TV 6
  • Collaboration Award – Bob Johnson, City of Lansing
  • Musician Volunteer Award – Mike Skory
  • Social Media Volunteer Award – Laurie Lonsdorf
  • Outstanding Volunteer Awards – Juanita Sibiski, Tom and Justin Loveless
  • Lights of Michigan Award – Mayor Virg Bernero
  • Volunteer of the Year Award – Paul Schmidt, Uno Deuce Multimedia

“Our volunteers are the heart of MICA, and every volunteer and sponsor is deeply committed to our vision of community development through quality arts programming,” said Terry Terry, board president for the Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art. “We’re proud to celebrate the start of the festival season with this annual event showing our appreciation for them.”

ii:V:I is a chord progression that provides an underlying structure allowing musicians to improvise together. MICA presents the ii:V:I Community Turnaround Awards annually to those who support creativity, the arts and community in Old Town Lansing.
