:: 2012 :: Playing the ukulele is easy and fun—it’s a perfect instrument for the young (and the young-at-heart) to learn to play music on.  During this workshop, your children will learn a short history of the ukulele, the names of the parts, how to tune it, and three chords which can be used to play thousands of songs. The highly esteemed instructor, Ben Hassenger, is a long-time Lansing-area musician, educator, music therapist, and ukulele ambassador. Hassenger is the co-founder of the Lansing Area Ukulele Group (L.A.U.G.H.) and organizer of the Mighty Uke Day festival in Old Town. If possible, children should bring their own ukuleles, tuned G-C-E-A. If they don’t have their own, there will be a limited number of ukes available to borrow for the workshop.
