:: 2012 :: 496 West connects somewhere between contemporary jazz, R&B, soul, a sprinkling of the blues and, of course, gospel jazz. The band’s versatility is evident in many different formations that include a trio, quintet, octet, and a full dance band. Their performances and outstanding vocalists complement the mood with entertaining, dynamic and soulful harmonies. Together, these musicians form a contemporary instrumental and smooth jazz group that is all about artists pouring themselves into every beautiful note.
With their first CD release schedule for this summer, 496 West showcases its incredibly gifted members — starting with guitarist Charlie Wilson, bass man Aaron Carter, and keyboardist Richard Wolfolk, drummer Brandon Mason, and saxophonist Reggie Page. Today’s instrumentation includes soprano, tenor and alto sax, keyboards, guitar, bass, drums, vocals and even a few surprises that, like jazz, are rich in tone and exciting to hear.
