Detroit’s “PanaMO” is a renowned Latin Jazz ensemble led by the Panamanian Master Percussionist and composer Obed Succari. Named as a portmanteau of “Panama” and “Motown,” the band performs a repertoire of original music and jazz standards that have been rearranged to reflect a strong Latin flavor. Their music is a mixture of Afro-Latin rhythms that embraces modernity while respecting the essence of the music’s roots. PanaMO has been providing masterful performances in and around the Detroit Metro area for 9 years, and the band features many of the finest jazz musicians in southeast Michigan.

On Saturday, Obed will also be providing a Latin Percussion Workshop at the MICA Gallery, 1210 Turner Street.
