Betty Joplin
Saturday, August 8, 2015 – 6:30 to 8:00
MICA Stage
A legendary singer and pianist, Betty Joplin has performed with Arthur Prysock and toured with the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Her voice has been compared to Aretha Franklin, and the Queen of Soul herself requested Betty to perform more than once. Joplin received a Grammy nomination for “This Guy’s In Love With You” and released notable CD’s, “Blinded By Love” and “Visions of The Moment.”
Her career took her on tours throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico, and Asia, but this mid-Michigan resident also was enjoyed by locals when she performed regularly in downtown Lansing at The Garage jazz & blues club for many years.
Betty will be backed up by Jeff Shoup on drums, Larry Barrs on guitar, and Jim Alfredson on organ.
