Exuberant, fun, funky, classy, and cool, this newly-formed group of richly-talented jazz musicians deliver a danceable beat, approachable presence, and overall personable entertainment for this year’s JazzFest.
Led by Tyrone Johnson, this act strikes a remarkable balance between jazz, funk, pop, and rock. Fusing together rhythms from four genres, the hard bop overtones will have this year’s JazzFest goers tapping their feet, dancing in the street, and grooving to standards and current contemporary jazz tunes.
Johnson’s well-versed, full-bodied jazz experience coupled with his uncanny ability to captivate any audience with his charismatic stage presence lead this band’s robust talent to create vivid jazz renderings resulting in an outstanding entertaining experience.
As an orchestra pit musician for the Greater Cleveland Playhouse Production Company early on his career, Johnson later segued into big band as well as small jazz combo groups throughout the Southeastern and Southwestern United States. Johnson has performed with such jazz greats as Clark Terry, Gerry Mulligan, Chuck Mangione, and Bobby Shew—and pop artists including The Coasters, Kenny Loggins, the Imperials, and Martha and the Vandellas.
