Dr. EListening to—and watching—the soulful, open-hearted, raw-yet-refined talent of Dr. E, audiences feel as she does: elevated. This Columbus, Ohio-based songstress is a fast-rising jazz and soul star who freely shares her resonating soul with her audiences, leaving them with a sense of freedom, connectedness, and inspiration.

“We are all human and we want to feel connection to others; I do my best to do that,” says Dr. E.

Dr. E’s many eclectic musical influences have evolved into an exciting style hallmarked by warm, bluesy tones, infectious rhythms, fiery fretwork, and caressing vocals soaked in soul.  Experience the songs, sights, and sounds of the evocative jazzy soul of Dr. E and her sultry-styled band.

This former East Lansing resident’s vocal range, versatility, and stage presence have been compared to artists such as Stephanie Mills, Patti LaBelle, Ladisi, and Chaka Kahn.

Singer, songwriter, author, mentor, motivational speaker, actress, and recording artist, Dr. E has an extensive education from books and streets making for an exceptionally soulful outpouring of talent and a dynamic, engaging stage presence. Her music has been featured on popular TV shows; she performed the opening act for David Hollister and Martha Munizzi; shared her voice at the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Fox News, Lincoln Theater, Ohio State University’s Wexner Center for the Arts, Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, Ingenuity Festival Mountaineer Casino, and numerous venues, plays, and events.

Dr. E will also lead a clinic Friday at 5pm in 1210 Turner. For several years, Elaine Richardson led a turbulent life filled with abusive relationships and dangerous choices. She would have seemed like the last person to become a tenured professor at Ohio State University, a mentor, songwriter-performer and speaker; but today she is all of that and more. At this clinic, Dr. E will present on her life and her music.
