Recipient of the 2010 Critics’ Poll in Jazz Times and recognized as World Jazz for the Jazz World, Dave Sharp’s Secret Seven masterfully blends musical, national, and ethnic rhythms and influences from Africa, Asia, the Latin world, blue note jazz, and New Orleans, resulting in original scores leaving audiences in awe.
This straight ahead jazz act re-interprets different textures and styles of music, resulting in a sensory feast for the senses. At this year’s JazzFest, the act brings to the stage a taste of their highly praised “Journey to India” concert series, featuring the rich, expressive vocals of Hindustani vocalist Parag Ray. Ray is a trained Hindustani classical singer residing in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
“Sharp lays down a burning rhythmic canvas that serves as a launching pad for soaring melodic invention,” says Kevin Owens, The Music Player Network.
With the new full length CD “7” charting for national radio airplay in the CMJ top 30, this “World Jazz for the Jazz World” act is truly a world-class act.
